23 April 2023, Los Angeles. Dr. Sebastian Koga presented a lecture on novel biomaterials in spine surgery called "Comparative Subsidence Analysis Between 3D-printed Bone Density Matched Titanium and PEEK Cervical Interbody Fusion Devices". The research was supported by Aurora Spine Corp. (Carlsbad, CA) and is centered on the DEXA technology. This 3D printed titanium lattice work has biomimetic properties which accelerates fusion in spine surgery.
Dr. Koga was the first clinician in the world to use DEXA implants and has helped refine their design. He will lead a multicenter prospective study to further elucidate their clinical value of DEXA implants in patients undergoing cervical spine surgery.
